Impressionistic art is a movement that emerged in the late 19th century and is characterized by its emphasis on capturing the fleeting impressions of light, color, and atmosphere. It sought to depict the transient and subjective experience of a scene rather than focusing on precise details.

Impressionists aimed to capture the essence of a moment by using loose brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and unblended dabs of paint. They sought to represent the ever-changing effects of light and its interaction with the surroundings. This departure from the more traditional and realistic styles of painting was considered revolutionary at the time.
